Sign-in. You can sign in with Google or Discord. From Google we receive your name, email address and profile picture. From Discord we receive your Discord username, account id, email address and avatar. We never see your Google or Discord password.
Profile. Anything you add to your profile is stored because you chose to add it: username, Discord username, age, bio, current city and country, countries you are interested in, interests, languages, social links and your photo.
Contact details. You can optionally add an email address and a phone number. Each one is private unless you switch on “Show on my profile”. We use the email address you enter (or, if you leave it empty, your login email) to send the notifications you have turned on.
Activity. Group trips you post or join, comments on trip threads, country ratings and comments, and direct messages you send.

When you post a group trip it is automatically announced in the Overseas Bros Discord server (the #meetups-abroad channel). The announcement includes the trip details, your username, your profile photo and a link to your profile. When you edit or cancel a trip, that announcement is updated to match. Anyone in the Discord server can see those posts.
If you sign in with Discord, we record that your Discord account is linked (the “Discord linked” badge) and fill in your Discord username on your profile. We do not read your Discord messages or join servers on your behalf.
We email you when someone joins a trip you host, comments on a trip you are on, or sends you a direct message, plus a reminder a week before a trip you are on starts and, for hosts, a nudge to add a recap after it ends. Each of these can be turned off on your Profile page under Contact & Notifications, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
If the host cancels a trip you joined, or changes its dates or place, you get an email regardless of those settings, because you would want to know.
Only to run Overseas Bros: to show your profile to other members, to run group trips and messaging, to post trips to the Discord, and to send the notifications above. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
We use cookies to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies. Google Analytics may set its own cookies for anonymised usage measurement.
You can edit or remove anything on your profile, make your email and phone private again, and turn off notifications at any time from your Profile page.
You can delete your account there too. That permanently removes your profile, contact details, trips you host, your trip memberships and comments, ratings, messages and login credentials. Discord announcements for trips you hosted are marked cancelled; posts you made inside the Discord server itself are governed by Discord.
